For Iranian-born New Yorker Pouran Jinchi, the ubiquity of military-inspired imagery and the consequent musings on the representation of power, oppression and security, presents a compelling series of questions, which she seeks to address in her new body of work, 'The Line Of March'. The show, consisting of sculptural, textile, plastic and graphic work, ingeniously refracts notions of authority, strength and aggression through abstracted symbolism and visual references. Coded colours, ranking insignia and formal experimentation abound in the exhibition and in this podcast, I discuss these themes, and much more besides, with the engaging, witty and thoughtful artist.
