James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness [sin, lusts, body appetites,

bad attitudes], and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

These people are inwardly changed, but their old thinking patterns have become a bad

habit.

This is a believer who is being pessimistic, downbeat, negative, uncooperative, gloomy,

cynical, or indifferent.

Receive: a WILLINGNESS to accept

THIS is what you HAVE TO DO for the Word to become “IMPLANTED” in you!

Ephesians 4:8,11-12 “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to

men.” … 11  And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some

pastors and teachers, 12  FOR [Purpose] the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for

the edifying[building up] of the body of Christ,

HOW to RECEIVE the IMPLANTED Word:

1. SUBMISSION: You have to CONTINUOUSLY live in SUBMISSION to the Word of God

whether you “like it” or “not”

2. ILLIMINATION: You MUST ILLIMINATE anything or anyone that tries to keep you from

SUBMITTING to the Word of God.

3. ACT ON YOUR DECISION - Once you SEE IT in the Word … DO IT

4. CONTINUATION: This is NOT something you’re going to “try” ONCE

5. RECEPTION: When you do the FIRST 4 things – you will begin to RECEIVE THE WORD

OF GOD

James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
