Power relations and violence instances in Israeli feminism

Listen Later

“When do women decide to rebel, to act out of resistance?” is a question that has constantly accompanied Professor Henriette Dahan-Kalev’s scholarly reflection and personal activism. From this perspective, she extensively explores the shift between the personal and the political in Israeli feminism, what she defines in her recent book An Anatomy of Feminist Resistance (2019) as the moment when “the person experiences a consciousness change”. On this occasion, professor Dahan-Kalev will go back to the multiform experience of Israeli feminism in order to discuss power relations and violence instances. Using a socio-historical approach to contextualize the Israeli experience, she will problematize how power dynamics and the different forms of violence belonging to them might have shaped the path of the different voices of Israeli feminism.
