Romans 9:4

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and Jewish religious leaders for pursuing the power and influence and seeking the accolades of men. He told a parable portraying them as seeking places of prominence at a great banquet, but Jesus said that those who exalted themselves would be humbled, while he exalts those who seek a place of humility and service.
