Power Tip #84 pace yourself

Listen Later

One of the keys to endurance is the ability to pace yourself. The ability to do so is to…. Yep, you guessed it, get your mind positioned in a way to allow yourself to do so. Your mindset is the most important part of all your daily activities, and the execution of it all.

This part of your journey is going to take serious faith. Faith to pause and allow time to set its pace for you. This can be very frustrating for you! But it can be done if you choose to do so.

How do you know when to pace yourself in the grind?

Pacing yourself and knowing when to pace yourself is a learned trait. It will take some trial and error in your momentum to cause the magic of pace to happen in your life. But, its not a simple, “Poof here it is” moment, rather it will be a process of accountability with yourself and with someone in your life that has no problem telling you the truth. And this is going to take others in your life that will hand you one of the most precious gifts you can ever receive, and that is grace. Have Grace in your Pace! Give yourself a moment right now to think about where you need that Grace in Your Pace to keep the momentum of your mission in balance.

Now, you may be saying, “how is pacing myself going to keep my momentum moving?” Well, think of a ship, boat, or some type of major machinery that is constantly working. How about your car if you have one, you are on the road for 300 miles and you stop for gas to fill up. You run in the store to grab some snacks to keep YOU going for another 300 miles, right? You jump back in your car and ride along, just knowing that you are full and rockin' for another 300. You see that your car needs some gas, you hit the 300, and when you pull in and gas up, now your car won't start. HHMM, can you guess why? You never treated your car with oil, water, or rest. Now you are in a predicament that is causing you to stall more than just a brief few minutes. You find out that the car ran out of oil, and has caused more damage to the engine than you expected. Now, you are stuck in this place of “broke down”, all because you didn't take the necessary precautions to take a few moments to rest your car, check its oil and keep it moving.

Now you see? You are that car at times that no matter how much you think the only thing that matters is keeping the fuel tank full, which is very far from the truth. There is so much more in that motor that needs to pause for momentum to take place.

Get the point?

Don't allow yourself to overheat in this endurance season…. Pace yourself because all you have at the end of the day is YOU.

Write and evaluate your thoughts and put them into action!
