Jesus suffered and humbled himself to death on a cross...therefore God glorified Jesus. We follow him in our lives partaking in his sufferings and also great joys. The mission of God requires suffering, yet we will also receive the crown and reward with him when he brings into the fullness the Kingdom of Jesus.
