He is currently the associate clinical director for Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He is the Vice President of Clinical Research and Education for Select Medical, director of Rehabilitative Research at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, and adjunct assistant professor in the PT program at Marquette University. He has published over 190 journal articles, 130 book chapters, 10 textbooks, and lectured at over 1200 professional and scientific meetings throughout the world. He has received countless awards including the Ron Peyton Award for career achievement from the sports physical therapy section of the APTA, the James Andrews Award for achievement in the area of baseball science, inducted in the Sports Section Blackburn Hall of Fame, and received a tremendous honor when the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the APTA named the Traveling Fellowship after him. His professional interests focus on the integration of neurobiology into clinical decision making and public and professional education in pain, stress and performance management.
