Week 1: Practicing the Way

Out of context, the Christian life can be quite odd. Jesus can easily be peddled among a cadre of gurus or held up as a proponent of radicalized political ideologies. But in context - that is, in the life, teachings, and way of Jesus, epitomized in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) - Jesus is breathtakingly beautiful.

Jesus is both teaching and listener, authoritative and meek, truth and life.

It is our desire as a community to do more than learn Jesus' teachings or build an ethical life with Jesus as our reference; instead, we desire to practice the way of Jesus for the renewal of the city.

So, over the coming weeks, we'll set out to articulate our mission - Practicing the way of Jesus for the renewal of the city - and the values undergirding that mission: presence, formation, and renewal.
