Do you think of a great hymn when you hear the name, Neander?  Or, are you drawn toward the thought of the extinct people group, Neanderthal, whose bones were found in the Neander Valley in Germany?  How was Joachim Neander able to write such a great and uplifting hymn while battling tuberculosis and dying at the age of 30?  Our God holds us up in times of trial, lifting our spirits and making it possible to give such words of praise as these.
