Praising Through the Struggle
“I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” — Psalm 7:17.
Sometimes it feels like the world is upside down. Evil people seem to prosper, injustice happens right in front of us, and it’s like no one cares. In those moments, the human heart wants to scream, complain, or give up. But David teaches us something different: to praise God according to His righteousness, even when our reality feels unfair.
When David wrote this psalm, his life wasn’t peaceful. He was being hunted, falsely accused, and betrayed. Yet instead of taking revenge or sinking into self-pity, he chose to trust in God’s justice. He knew that God sees what no one else sees, that the Lord knows every heart, and that He rewards the righteous in His perfect timing.
To praise “the name of the Lord” means to acknowledge who God is — not just what He does. God doesn’t change when life changes. He remains the Most High, exalted above every situation. When you praise God in your pain, you’re saying, “Lord, I still trust You, even when I don’t understand.”
Maybe right now you’re facing something heavy — disappointment, injustice, or an unfulfilled dream. And God is calling you to a different response: instead of complaining, praise; instead of giving up, trust.
Praise doesn’t change who God is — it changes you. It lifts your focus from the problem to the Almighty. In praise, the weary heart finds strength, and the righteous remember they’re never alone.
Today, choose to praise God in the middle of your struggle. Close your eyes and say:
“Lord, I will praise You for Your righteousness. Even when I don’t understand, I trust You. Turn my pain into praise and my anxiety into hope.”
Let that be your cry today — not a cry of despair, but a cry of faith.
Because when the righteous praise, heaven moves.
