As believers, the state of our prayer life is a reflection of our identity. A secure identity allows for intimate and empowering encounters with God through prayer, while insecurity can produce discouragement and our desire to commune with God may subside. Jesus’ prayer in the garden of Gethsemane is a picture of why our identities must be founded upon the love of God as we seek to accomplish His will.
