Trust
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. (Proverbs 3:5-8)
Father, this is the verse we long to see written on their hearts. I pray that ______ would trust you with all their heart — not halfway, not as a backup plan, but completely — and that they would stop leaning on their own understanding, which is so limited and so easily fooled. Teach them to acknowledge you in all their ways, the small decisions and the large ones, and keep your promise to make their paths straight. Guard them from being wise in their own eyes. Let the fear of the Lord turn them away from evil, and let that turning bring real healing and refreshment, all the way down to their bones. For your glory and their good, in Jesus’ name, amen.
