A friend of ours was recently talking to a friend named Jayce, who is follower of Jesus, and who has been a police officer in the state of Washington for several years. She asked Jayce what types of things he prayed for when he was on his shift, and he said, “I am in constant conversation with Jesus-about everything. Jesus is like a friend, so I talk to Him throughout the day and night about everything…sometimes quietly, sometimes out loud.”
When we receive Jesus into our hearts, we are truly entering into a relationship with Him. And because we’re in a relationship, we do not need formal prayers when addressing Him. We don’t need to pray out-loud or follow certain guidelines for how to pray. We just need to talk to Him! You don’t need to order your thoughts to pray. You don’t need to know exactly what you’re going to say. Jesus simply wants to be in communication with you.
This week, I urge you to pray often, and pray freely. Seek Jesus’ strength and wisdom in all situations you find yourself in, and you’ll be surprised by what He empowers you to do. 1 Chronicles 16:11 in the Bible says, “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.” This is Luis Palau.
