Prayer 2021 - November 13 - Why We Need Other Denominations pt 1

Listen Later

Scripture For Today:1 Chronicles 5:20“They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him.”Why We Need Other Denominations pt 1

I’ve been around the block in Christian circles a few times. I’ve preached in Baptist churches, COGIC churches, Pentecostal churches, Presbyterian churches, Independent Baptist churches, convention centers, city parks, you name it – I’ve probably been there. Amen!

I have associated with churches that have different doctrinal beliefs than I do. I have no problem fellowshipping or even preaching in these churches and hanging out with these pastors. First and most importantly of all – we are fellow Christian believers. Amen!

I’ve shared in some circles that we are called to what? Build the church, which is the Body of Christ. The bible talks about us being a body made up of different parts. Each part has it’s own function. Even you little toe is important. Did you know that?

If you lose your little toe, for whatever reason, your ability to balance yourself is also thrown off, just a little bit. Check it online and see if I’m not telling you the truth. Amen!

The point I’m trying to make is this, just as the body is made up of various parts, and if one part is sickly or not operating the way it is supposed to be – the entire BODY suffers to some extent. And, if that part should become seriously sick, injured or worse – it is possible the entire body will end up dying.

It works the same way within the church – which is the body of Christ. Amen!

I’ve related it this way, to make it a little clearer for some people to understand WHY we need to fellowship, support and actually HELP churches and ministries that may not “believe” (doctrinally) the same way we do.

Think of it like this…

When a house is being built, new construction – or remodeled, etc. Do you just grab a hammer, saw and some wood and go to work yourself?  NO!

First, you have to get permits. Before you can do that, you have to  have the blue print in hand. Can you make a blue print that meets all of the specs required for building permits? Can you hand your blueprint off to a construction worker and they can build the exact house you desire?

Probably not, right?

That’s just one example…

Then, there is the preparation of the foundation. You don’t just go to building on raw ground. It has to prepared a certain way. Concrete poured, etc.  Then the framers come in. Followed by the plumbers and electricians and the then walls are put and the roof is installed.

Now, let me ask you, are each of those occupations important in building a house? Absolutely. Can you build a house without one or more of those people contributing to the building of the house? You could, but it probably would not pass inspection and would not turn out how you intended, right?

It’s the same way with the Body of Christ. Jesus has the plan. He was there when the “foundations of earth was laid.” He knows how it is supposed to operate. So, if HE needs various denominations in order to accomplish His purpose in building HIS HOUSE – HIS Body – shouldn’t we do all we can to get along and work with one another?

Absolutely. I’m already over time for today, so we will take it up here tomorrow.
