4. Fasting is the expression of desperation to God and the amplification of desire (Jer. 29:13)
Jeremiah 29:13
[13]And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Psalms 63:1-3
[1]O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
[2]To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
[3]Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
God will never turn away or turn down the prayer of the desperate
Psalms 102:17
[17]He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
James 5:17-18
[17]Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
[18]And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
