Prayer

Listen Later

Prayer is talking with God.

Different types of prayers:

Adoration (1 Samuel 2)

Confession (Psalm 32, 51, Daniel 9)

Thanksgiving (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Supplication (Psalm 62:8, Philippians 4:6-8)

We find prayer in many places throughout Scripture:

1 Samuel 1

Psalms

Matthew 7:7

Acts 2:42

Opening of Paul’s letters

Why teach our children to pray?

-God is a relational God

-God is holy and gracious

-God is sovereign

-God is good

-God is caring and compassionate

-God wants children to come to Him

By teaching our children to pray, they learn that they can and should go to God about everything.

Begin teaching your children by having them repeat after you. As you do this, have them pray short and simple prayers.
