Every Christian has a vital interest and desire to commune with the living God. But how do we do this? Sometimes it isn't easy. Prayer can be, at best, a difficult thing. There seems to be so much that opposes us, keeping us from praying or hindering us when we pray. We would rather do many other things than pray. Prayer can be so challenging that, as Thomas Shephard, a leading New England Puritan, said,  “It is sometimes so with me that I will rather die than pray.”
