Prayer Is Identity Expression Not Petition · Monday Night Gatherings

Listen Later

Prayer is not a ritual that moves God. It is the nature of a son in fellowship with the Father.

The teaching draws a sharp line between prayer as petition and prayer as identity expression. The argument is this: signs follow believers not because they prayed for them, but because faith is a person who lives in them. Peter's shadow healed. Paul's handkerchiefs raised the dead. Neither man was praying in those moments. They were simply being what they were. The same principle governs prayer itself. Sons do not pray to acquire Christ, they pray from the fullness of Christ already given. Asking for more power or more wisdom is asking for more of someone you already have in full. The teaching also confronts how prayer has become a cover for passivity, a way to avoid accountability while appearing spiritual. You must first become the prayer before you pray.
