Prayer is inherently tied up in the fact that God’s kingdom is still ‘not yet.’ In other words, prayer is only a practice for the ‘in-between’ when God’s promises are not yet a full reality. In this sense, prayer is a practice of suffering. As we look forward with hope, the Spirit of God ministers to us in our suffering by helping us to pray.
