James 5:16 of the Bible says "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

Romans 5 tells us that God makes a sinner righteous through faith in the work of Jesus. God paves the way for us to be right with him. Confession and repentance is an ongoing practice for the believer. God gives us the gift of Jesus' righteousness and hears us when we pray!
