Jesus teaches that we should pray for everyone, and that includes all those in positions of authority. The Apostle Paul says the same thing in his first letter to Timothy. Even when we disagree with them or actively oppose them, praying for them is a way to keep us grounded in love and to remind us that even leaders doing harm are still human. Our prayer gives God a way to touch their hearts and our hearts as well.
