Despise: To dislike

Have you ever sat under some preaching and thought, well that's not for me? We should never think that we are over the preached word. There is always something in a sermon that is for you. Preaching is important, the Word of God is very important to our souls.

When you walk into our building the first thing one sees is the elevated pulpit. All of the pews are facing the front. All of our attention should be upon the front of the church. We should not honor the one bring the word but the word itself. God is not concerned about the vessel but the obedience it has.

The story should never get old. Every time you hear about the cross and its suffering it should be like you've never heard it before and break you once again. Some hear the title of the sermon and mark it off as if they've got it figured out already and do not need it. Don't check out prematurely! No matter whom is preaching the message and whether you like them or not, it's not the deliverers that bless but the Word of God. We must ALL be careful of whom is bringing the Word because that person is only a deliverer. Don't think yourself above the preaching.

It pleases God thru the foolishness of preaching. The jumping, yelling, crying, screaming, running, etc. Not only to save souls but to keep them and grow them. We don't know how God is going to bless and feed so we must be very careful NOT to despise.
