Premier Su Tseng-chang

Premier Su Tseng-chang has been in the spotlight over the past week. Su was appointed by President Tsai Ing-wen last Friday to form a new Cabinet. Su, who lost his race for New Taipei mayor last November, now finds himself leading the government for a second time – he served as premier for a year during the Chen Shui-bian administration more than a decade ago.

 

As the new Cabinet was sworn in on Monday, Su said the executive branch must be more in touch with the public and build on what has already been done. The “only thing that matters is results,” he said.

 

Su, a veteran of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has long been known for his determination, execution and efficiency. Upon his appointment last Friday, Su promised to “roll up his sleeves and get to work.”
