Unity Records starts 2025 with the three-track ‘Prasaar’ EP by Alien9. The release opens with the title track, ‘Prasaar,’ a dark and driving peak-time cut featuring mind-melting sequences transmitted straight from the cosmos. It is followed by ‘Sampark,’ in which a playful vocal sits at the centre as a boundless, snappy groove rolls throughout. ‘Sanchaar then closes Alien9’s EP with mysterious signals building the energy as organic drums and zippy synths echo through its psychedelic atmosphere.
“The Prasaar EP symbolises the concept of extraterrestrial communication. In my native language, Marathi, The track ‘Prasaar’ translates to ‘Broadcast’, the second track, ‘Sampark’, translates to ‘Contact’, and the third track, ‘Sanchaar’, translates to ‘Communicate’. Together, these represent the three essential steps that would be used to communicate with another alien civilisation.” - Alien9
Alien9 is a new project by the San Diego-based Harshal, established following a decade of touring under his given name and releases on labels like Unity Records, Dolma, and Mavic Music. His signature tripped-out Techno, blending Indian folk instrumentation with synths, won the support of Chris Liebing, Coyu, Markantonio, Marco Faraone, and many more, with Harshal now returning to D-Unity’s label for the first time as Alien9, following a stellar debut EP on Naked Lunch Records in 2023.
