Born from a chance connection through mentor Osunlade, the partnership between Flip and Inkswel grew from their debut Early in the AM into a full-blown collaboration, even before they ever met in person. Their bond was cemented in 2025, leading to this bold, boundary-pushing project.

Rooted in their shared love of hip hop, house, and soul, Mushroom Funk is a kaleidoscope of lush textures, raw lo-fi grooves, and infectious club energy. The album features an all-star lineup including Life on Planets, Reggie B, Willie P, Leonard Charles, Rdomain, and Erin Buku, each bringing their unique voice to the mix.

Visually guided by the psychedelic artwork of Michael Rafaj and released on Feedasoul Records, Mushroom Funk is music without borders: soulful, global, and impossible to pin down.
