KAR-L’s ‘Borrowed Time’ EP on his 3MOON Records mines fresh ground with the dark, heavy, unrelenting drum funk of the title track. It is underpinned by dubby bass and topped with rattling, evocative chords. The fantastic 'Instinct' ups the intensity with tightly coiled loops, urgent rhythm and low-end, and unsettling synth motifs that twitch in the distance and draw you ever further down the rabbit hole. Last but not least is the sparse but atmospheric 'Nothingness' with its hunched over kicks, dry hits and moody synth tones ringing out into an empty and eerie landscape.
AR-L, aka Karl Dunnachie, is the owner of KAD Studios and 3MOON RECORDS and sits at the forefront of the current techno scene. He has dropped several innovative sounds on his imprint and labels like #thatechno, PRTL WRX, and CMND CTRL while picking up support from tastemakers like Amelie Lens, Chris Liebing, and Alienata.
