Mattr recently made his Renaissance debut with the hair-raising ‘Shutter’ on their VA, ‘Merin EP Vol.4’. Although a distinct style of his own there’s a tingling beauty to his work that’s reminiscent of Bicep, Gidge or Christian Loffler. Consider it emotive electronica with the feels turned up to 11, which Mattr confirms wasn’t that difficult to achieve with the remix given the source, “One of the signature parts of the track is its haunting, top line pad, so I built the remix around that, adding my own mid whilst glitching-up the vocals to provide that all important edge. I had real fun updating this renowned Renaissance classic”

Released in 1992, Mephisto's ’State Of Mind (Quiet Mix)’ was a standout during Renaissance's formative years at their legendary Venue 44 home in Mansfield. Its classic status was further compounded 18 months later when Sasha and John Digweed included it on the ‘Mix Collection Vol.1’ and introduced it to the ears of the wider world.
