More Cowbell established themselves in summer of 2019, rising through the scene as a Facebook community, pushing all things percussive and bass driven within the UK techno realm. With support from Keysound Recordings, Rinse FM and Keep Hush, the collective has made its mark as the catalyst for reigniting a fractured scene. With this success under their belt, 2020 see’s the launch of their label. The first instalment of their release roster reflects the label’s heavy influence from early 2000’s 2step, as well as the post-dubstep era that merged the sounds of dubstep and techno.

Manchester based producer, Monir, has delivered a three track EP which explores the realms of 130BPM, taking influence from the raw, UK sounds of early Wen and Pinch, whilst incorporating the shuffle of 2-Step drums respective of El-B and Ghost Recordings. The first track, entitled ‘Collusion’, sets the EP’s tone with low-swung bass pressure and layered subs. Whilst the second track, Overpass, pays homage to the early FWD>>> sound with heavy, bouncing 808’s built for the system. The EP finishes off with a track entitled ‘The Instinct’, connecting 2-step inspired drums to aggressive vocal chops that encapsulate UK sound system culture.
