RARÓG hails from the industrial heartland of western Poland, with a sound that has always explored dark and enigmatic realms. Previous works, such as the haunting and immersive ‘Exposure Incident EP’, have demonstrated his mastery of crafting dystopian soundscapes while drawing influence from IDM, drone, ambient, EBM, and even the sinister undertones of black metal. The Profanum Records founder has a shadowy intensity and unrelenting depth of sound, and his magnificent ‘Chains EP’ plunges even further into an intoxicating and otherworldly abyss.
The title track opens with rumbling low-end menace and makes for a meticulously engineered descent into atmospheric oblivion. Wispy hi-hats shimmer while distant winds blow through a deserted landscape that hums with unease. Deep techno gem 'Silk' features double kick drums that grow in intensity beneath the fizz of static and creepy sound designs, which keep you looking over your shoulder. In contrast, 'Stain' is more unhinged, as overloaded computer circuitry melts down, alien sounds permeate the mix, and subterranean rhythms roll deep. 'Unknown Call' is a final trip into a futuristic techno underworld with pulsing synths and the inherent threat of danger growing ever more real through edgy modulations and nebulous effects that all redefine the contours of contemporary techno.
