Preparation gives Directions:

Have you ever wondered why it seems like God is far away during your preparation season? He’s not near; he’s distant and unreachable. It’s something that I never understood. But I think it’s because God wants us to look for him so that we can change directions. David, in this Psalm, tells us that he’s walking through the valley of darkness, the darkest valley. Often, our darkest valleys lead us to the right path God has for us. God’s not confused or insane; God’s just trying to get us on the right track. David’s walking through darkness, but the fact that God’s with him means that he will be alright.

Direction never announces itself, but we usually find it because of the shepherd’s staff.

God’s not trying to cheat us out of enjoyment, but he’s trying to bring us into fulfillment.

Thus, preparation gives direction. Yes, it seems like we will die sometimes, but God’s not about to allow that because, again, he says, thy rod and thy staff comfort me. God’s directing us and protecting us, all at the same time. Trust God in the preparation season. He’s giving us direction for our elevation. God’s not forgotten you; this is the direction for your resurrection. You are coming back stronger when this is all said and done. God’s going to get the glory out of your life.
