Preparations for Winning with Rapid-Fire Sword Strokes

David W Palmer

Here are some more passages you can use to fight off the enemy’s fiery darts, to break his chokeholds, and to demolish his fortresses, etc.:

(Matthew 11:28 DKJV) Come to me, all you who [are worn out by heavy] labor and are overloaded, and I will give you rest and refreshing. {29} Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. {30} For my yoke is good, useful and kind, and my burden is light [and easy to carry].”

(Hebrews 4:9–11 MKJV) So then there remains a rest to the people of God. {10} For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His. {11} Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of unbelief.

(1 Timothy 5:8 KJV) but if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

“God may have promised to meet other people’s needs, but he won’t meet yours.”

(Galatians 6:7 MKJV) Do not be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap.

(Acts 10:34–35 EMTV) And Peter, opening his mouth, said: “In truth I comprehend that God is not One to show partiality. {35} But in every nation, he that fears Him and works righteousness is acceptable to Him.”

“If you step out in obedience to God to ‘sell what you have and give the money to the poor and come follow me’, you’ll go broke, and irresponsibly fail to provide.”

(Matthew 19:21 NKJV) Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

(Galatians 6:7 MKJV) Do not be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap.

(Mark 10:29–30 EMTV) So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields, for My sake and for the sake of the gospel, {30} who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and fields, along with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.”

“Because you have given up lying, cheating, and ripping others off, you won’t be able to get enough for yourself.”

(Matthew 6:33 DKJV) “But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you as well.”

“Don’t give 10% in the offering; you won’t be able to pay your own bills.”

(Malachi 3:10 LITV) Bring all the tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. And test Me now with this, says Jehovah of Hosts, whether I will not open the windows of the heavens for you and pour out a blessing until there is no sufficiency of room to store it.

(Deuteronomy 28:1–2 MKJV) And it will be, if you shall listen carefully to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command you today, Jehovah your God will set you on high above all nations of the earth. {2} And all these blessings shall come on you and overtake you, if you will listen to the voice of Jehovah your God.

(Hebrews 5:9 BBE) And when he had been made complete, he became the giver of eternal salvation to all those who are under his orders.

{Note: the Greek word translated “salvation” means rescue and deliverance from all evil and trouble including sickness, danger, poverty, sin etc. If we obey him eternally, this extends to include salvation from eternal punishment.}

“What I have now is not enough to meet the need, but if I give that away, I will have even less.”

(Luke 6:38 CEV) If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.

“How can I launch out in obedience to God’s call on my life: if I do, where am I going to get enough money to pay my own way?”

(Matthew 10:7–10 DKJV) “{And} as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is near at hand’. {8} Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and throw out demons: freely you have taken hold [of it], freely give. {9} Do not acquire [or retain for yourselves] gold, silver, or copper in your pockets, {10} nor supplies for your journey—not even two coats, shoes, or a staff—for the workman is worthy of his food [and provisions].

Today, I encourage you to take hold of any of the above passages from God’s word—his covenant document—that are not already in your heart. Then muse on them, memorise them, confess them, and become fully familiar with them; plant them into your heart. Remember, the words in the Bible—although full of infinite potential—will not help you, unless they are planted in your heart and grow to harvest. When they are ripe, they will overflow in rapid-fire, successive sword strokes whenever the enemy’s lies come anywhere near your thinking.

Also remember, the way things get planted in your heart is through your mind—what you hear, see, and especially what you meditate on, mutter, reinforce with your words, picture in your mind’s eye, and put your trust in.

Once, my mum said, “There’s a cat hanging around my house, and I don’t know whose it is.” My cousin asked, “Are you feeding it?” Mum said, “Yes.” “Then it’s yours,” said my cousin confidently. The same is true with the thoughts that begin hanging around your mind. If you feed them, welcome them, think about them, wonder what they would be like if fulfilled, etc., then you are owning them and they are yours. They take root in your heart and are destined for a harvest—unless purposefully uprooted. So, be sure to take in the thoughts and ideas of God’s written word. Take them into the centre of your innermost being; cherish them, feed them into your thinking, desire them to be fulfilled, and imagine life with them materialised; and you will have them:

(Mark 11:24 DKJV) “Therefore I say unto you, Whatever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
