When you've been a believer for a long time, there is a tendency to take for granted God's presence. You no longer regard it as holy or sacred. You enter into God's presence without any preparation, assuming that all is well. In a sense, it is true that we should draw near to God with confidence because of Jesus Christ (Heb 10:19-25). But we must also remember that God is holy. Therefore, we must at least prepare ourselves before entering His presence.
