Preparedness is an attitude, a theoretical lens through which we evaluate and engage with the world -  a state of mind. It is never and cannot be measured in supplies, kit pr equipment. Difficult to measure, similar to social capital, in that we measure the outcomes of strong social capital to determine whether it is present or not. 
Hardship befalls us all - illness, anguish, economic and dramatic losses. These are beyond our control to prevent, it is only our ability to navigate these with poise and presence that wins the day. 
Embracing preparedness as the totality of efforts to be ready, weak dressed and of determined mind to navigate life's disruptions.
