We live in collective societies where the random application of violence on each other is regulated through the collective morals expressed in our laws.  But man is an animal in the ecosystem and violence is kept at bay by the distribution of resources.  Our morals keep society reasonably free of violence because we can eat, find shelter and carry on with our lives.  
We discuss animalistic security, fighting as a skill set to protect yourself, state violence and the application of force by police against citizens and a standing Army.
Violence is real, needed and a skill you must have.
