Whether you're new to preparedness or you consider yourself a prepper, we should periodically reflect on our why, what is it that we're doing and the reasons for the efforts, a first principles review. That means returning to the foundation of the idea, that preparedness is about accepting responsibility for your outcomes, that it is about insulating you and your family from exogenous shocks that are beyond your control and thinking through potential scenarios. Preparedness is about understanding your exposure to and dependency on critical infrastructure, and how to mitigate the impacts of periodic loss of access.
Preparedness is free, it simply costs your most valuable resource, time.
