  • Review:

What fasting is and is not?

      • Fasting is a physical response to a spiritual prompting for a spiritual purpose. Biblical fasting is restraining from food for a spiritual purpose.
      • Fasting is a spiritual exercise, a voluntary restraint from food for the purpose of SEEKING GOD!
      • Physical obedience releases spiritual blessing!
      • Fasting social media and distractions should be coupled with fasting food!
      • Fasting is not a way to force God to hear you. Fasting is a way to get you to hear God
      • Fasting is not a way to force God to do something. Fasting is how we position ourselves to receive what He has already done
      • Fasting is not a way to prove how “spiritual” you are. Fasting is a way we grow spiritually
      • Fasting is how we humble ourselves before The Lord.
      • Fasting is how we crucify our flesh.
      • Your perspective will determine your response and what you can receive
      • God is supernatural! Expect supernatural things to happen!
      • What to expect during and from the fast.

          • Expect greater intimacy with The Father!
            • God is no respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of pursuit. Intimacy comes with pursuit!
            • There can be no consistent intimacy without consistent pursuit. James said draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
            • Expect faith and power to increase!
              • Matthew 17:14-21
              • Romans 12:1-2
              • Expect Clarity of vision!
                • Acts 9:1-
                • Saul found himself caught in the confusion of temporary blindness!
                • The light of his past was extinguished and the light of his future not yet revealed.
                • He was stuck between the certainty of what he THOUGHT he was called to do and the uncertainty of what his life was about to become.
                • He knew he could no longer do what he had always done, but he did not know what he should do next. His darkness was disorienting. He needed direction. He needed clarity. He need vision!
                • THIS IS WHERE MANY OF US FIND OURSELVES
                • Paul was religious but he had not true revelation! We live religiously but not revelationally!
                • Fasting and prayer prepares our hearts to receive the grace of God’s revelation and direction for our life.
                • When we fast, our spiritual eyes see clearer than usual. Because we have denied our flesh, our spiritual sensitivity increases and we are more receptive to the vision of God.
                • Judah or Judas = "he shall be praised"
                • Ananias = "whom Jehovah has graciously given"
                • Acts 13:1-3
                • 9:18 TPT All at once, the crusty substance that was over Saul’s eyes disappeared and he could see perfectly.
                • 2020 vision!
                • ...more
