This week, Talking Catholic’s Jen Mauro is joined by Pete Sánchez, co-host of the Talking Saints podcast! With Mike Walsh on pilgrimage in the Holy Land with Bishop Dennis Sullivan, Vicar General Father Robert Hughes and dozens more, Jen snagged her Catholic Star Herald colleague to talk Lent, which starts Feb. 22, Ash Wednesday.

 

It’s a lively and spiritual conversation – filled with some whimsy to keep Mike happy – as Pete and Jen welcome Father Joshua Nevitt, the Bishop’s priest-secretary and associate vocations director for the Diocese of Camden, and Father John Picinic, pastor of Cherry Hill’s Christ Our Light Parish. 

 

Fathers Nevitt and Picinic talk about Ash Wednesday and Lent, explaining how it is certainly a somber season, but not a sad one. The two also share how they prepare their hearts and minds for this penitential time, challenge listeners to dive deeper when it comes to fasting, and shed light on almsgiving.

 

Plus, the two share the simple meals they’ll be cooking on the meatless Fridays during Lent – recipes of which will be shared in the Catholic Star Herald’s Clergy Kitchen series starting Feb. 24!
