This week, the fourth week of Easter, Pastor David Cartwright reminds us that God does not change, but the way He interacts with us might. In this light, Jesus’s birth, death, and resurrection, our salvation, was just a new old thing; a new variation on the same theme. In this week’s passage, taken from Luke 24:44-53, the disciples witness Jesus’ ascension, a new confirmation of what God has said and done before, but this uplifting scene only comes after several anxious days of waiting. Pastor Cartwright encourages us all to see this time of quarantine, or any time when God may seem distant, as a similar period of waiting before the next new old thing.
