Preparing For The Savior

Luke 3:1-20

With the start of this chapter about 30 years have elapsed since we last saw the child John who is now a full-orbed preacher of repentance. Admittedly Luke is calling us to see the message and ministry of John the Baptist. But don’t be sidetracked—while concentrating on the Baptist we are meant to keep our focus squarely on the Christ. And I say that because even in the public launch of John’s ministry, Luke continues to fill out the Savior’s Resume with further proof for why Jesus alone is qualified to be the Savior who makes salvation possible for all people from every nation. And what is that proof? It’s our main idea, that—Repentance for the forgiveness of sins is found in Jesus alone.
