In this episode, I open up about one of the biggest milestones in my parenting journey, sending my autistic Covid baby off to kindergarten. This transition is deeply emotional, not only because of the challenges and uncertainties of the pandemic years, but also because of the intentional ways we’ve been preparing for this moment.
I share the small but meaningful steps we’ve taken to prepare… building routines, practicing social skills, play dates, and weaving in affirmations, to help create a foundation of safety, confidence, and resilience.
For parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children, or anyone walking their little one into this big transition, I hope this story reminds you that preparation is important. Let’s embrace the presence, love, and trust in our children’s strength.
