Welcome to Poder Speaks! We are young Latinx change makers developing a new narrative for NC politics that centers the leadership and voices of Black and brown communities. We sat down with Kendra Johnson, the Executive Director of North Carolina’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, Equality NC, for Pride month! We talked about trailblazers in the LGBTQ+ community, the history of advocacy in North Carolina, and the work that EqualityNC is doing to combat anti-Trans legislation.

This month, and any month for that matter, is a time to celebrate one’s own gender and sexual expression. We wanted to take that celebration a step further by diving into how we can collectively mobilize together to solidify the safety, rights, and future of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender North Carolinians.
