The development of our character has innumerable benefits, but it does come with a cost. To grow in our character often means we must sacrifice our pride — thinking too often or too highly of ourselves. Our pride keeps us from recognizing when we’re wrong and if we can’t admit that, we won’t have the knowledge, ability, or resolve to do what is right. Last week we discussed how watching Jesus can help us learn how we need to develop our character. An invitation to follow Jesus is an invitation to unfollow pride.
