Standing On The SideLine

Pride vs Profit

Listen Later

We start off episode 28 with a recap of the "boxing" (and I use that word loosely) event that took place in Miami, FL between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul that even had Chad Ochocinco as one of the opening fights. Didn't take long to tell you what we saw in that showing but it introduced a topic that unknowingly would become a theme of the episode, "Pride vs Profit". We saw profit take precedence in this fight despite Logan not being in the same realm of fighting as Floyd. We see it again in LeBron's post game press conference when he couldn't help himself but to plug Space Jam 2 right after being eliminated by the Suns. But rarely in sports (where it seems like money is being handed out to anybody) do we see athletes take a definitive stance that their pride and self respect is non-negotiable, and despite whatever your thoughts on Aaron Rodgers is, you have to respect somebody willing to leave 22 MILLION DOLLARS on the table just to prove he's not bluffing.
