The Prime Minister is calling for greater care of MPs when it comes to their mental health.
This follows Jami-Lee Ross being 'sectioned' to an Auckland mental health facility, following a tumultuous week that saw him expelled from the National party.
The Botany MP was taken into care by police on Sunday afternoon.
Jacinda Ardern told Mike Yardley we need to take better care of MPs.
"This is actually a conversation we have as a team from time to time, just making sure we are looking after each other."
"It's a pretty robust place. I think it needs to be better in that regard, I mean a lot of the stress that is put on people and their families in this places comes from the way we do politics."
She said New Zealand's attitude to politics can be very harmful.
"There is still a degree to which you are considered successful if you have claimed the scalp of another politician."
"It is often about the man, not the ball. We should be discussing and debating issues, that's what the public wants from us."
