EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK, TAKING EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE. RESET YOUR THINKING BY ISAIAH-PHILLIPS AKINTOLA.
CHAPTER 1
THE THOUGHT AND THE HUMAN CRADLE
The subject of human thought and the intricate processes of thinking have always captivated my interest, driving me to explore and study any material that delves into this profound discipline. I believe one of the most devious schemes and strategies of the enemy is to deliberately obscure the knowledge of man, to neglect and downplay the impact, influence, and authority of thought to the detriment of human destiny.
God’s word, both in the Old and New Testament, speaks extensively about the condition of the human thought system. It consistently emphasizes how a person’s thoughts influence their behavior, relationships, and interaction with the world.
Thoughts are the most powerful sensory system we have for shaping and interpreting the world around us. The way we perceive the world—through sight, sound, and experience—is filtered through our thought system. It is our thoughts that shape the condition and function of our brain’s capabilities.
In fact, the brain serves as a mirror, reflecting the state of our thoughts, which reside within the inner depths of our mind. The relationship between thought and brain’s function is profound, as the mind governs how we think, perceive, and react to our environment.
The act of thinking is a natural process that every normal human being engages in effortlessly. However, the practice of deliberate, constructive thinking aimed at achieving specific, productive, life-transforming goals is far more challenging.
This is largely due to the layers of limitations, negative beliefs, and conditioning that often obscure the clarity and productivity of human thought. While basic thinking may be an automatic function, purposeful and strategic thinking requires conscious effort and discipline, and it is this type of thinking that has the power to shape one's destiny.
