Tammie Jo Schultz faced intense gender discrimination throughout her career as a Navy fighter jet pilot and 737 pilot for Southwest Airlines. The discrimination began at Career Day in high school and continued through Navy recruiters, to instructors, to other pilots and then managers at Southwest.
Yet, she is the captain of Flight 1380, whose unique experiences of flying failing aircraft allowed her to do what many would not have been capable of doing. She landed a heavily damaged 737 and saving the lives of 147 people, unfortunately losing one person due to the damage of the fuselage.
The path to this moment is an inspiring story of how walking with God will provide the strength for every obstacle and challenge in life. The full details are in Tammie Jo’s book, “Nerves of Steel”. I know you will receive much encouragement from this podcast with Tammie Jo.
