Priyadarshan is no doubt one of the most successful pan India film directors of modern times. Having delivered numerous hits in multiple languages, he has created a niche among movie lovers of being able to execute on-screen madcap comedy laughathons flawlessly.
Primarily based in the Malayalam film industry, he was a major player in the 80s and 90s which were considered to be the Golden Era of the Malayalam industry. His combinations with Mohanlal have delivered cult classics that every Malayali swears by like Chitram, Thalavattom and many more. He has also partnered with every major actor of that era and his hit ratio was much higher than the rest of his peers.
In the 2000s he ventured into the Hindi film industry by remaking some of the super hit films of the duo Siddique-Lal. He then went on to remake some of his films which were met with a mixed response. He is still credited with reinventing the image of Akshay Kumar from an action hero into a comic star. Films like Hera Pheri (A remake of Ramjirao Speaking) and Garam Masala (A remake of Boeing Boeing) firmly established Priyadarshan as the ultimate director for comedy movies replacing David Dhawan.
On the personal front, the director is the proud father of upcoming actress Kalyani Priyadarshan who is slowly making her mark in the South Indian film industry with notable performances in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.
Recent announcements on social media have claimed that Priyadarshan has opened his state-of-the-art audio studio in Chennai built by industry experts Awedible. The Chennai based Awedible has also executed projects for musicians like Raghu Dixit and Rex Vijayan (Avial) and also music composers like Shaan Rahman and Govind Vasantha.
The question arose as to why would a noted film director suddenly open an audio studio.
