The way we think about obedience matters. Most of us go around feeling crummy as we think on how our kids disobey and we wish they wouldn't. We get so frustrated as we think they should obey us, but what if the opposite could be true? Thinking about this topic in a completely different way can really bring you the peace you crave in your everyday life. Listen to today's episode to learn why.

Our brains are designed to change. The stories we tell ourselves about life and those around us, including our thoughts about ourselves, do not have to stay with us forever. Join me on the podcast today as I discuss neuroplasticity and our stories.

Many people think of emotional boundaries as a line others should not cross. They want others to hold to these invisible boundaries, and many times feel resentful if they do not. They think, “This is the line, and you better not cross it or else,” and their “or else” is that they will be unhappy. They put the power of their emotions into others’ hands.
I want to show you today how this is totally unnecessary and how you can put the power over your emotions back into your own hands by setting boundaries correctly. There are two simple steps. Tune in today to learn what those steps are and some examples of what this looks like.

"Oh, don't cry! You're going to be okay."
"You need to change your attitude. No one likes a grump."
"Smile! Why are you sad? It's going to be fine."
Many of us have been told since we were children that we need to hide our feelings or change how we're behaving so others will be comfortable. We haven't been taught how to really feel our feelings. We tend to stuff them down until we explode.
If you've ever felt frustrated and cranky and stomped around grumpily all day long, lashing out at the drop of a hat, you know what I'm talking about. Reacting that way to your emotions is not necessary. There's another way--a better way--and it will help you feel better much faster.
Join me today as I discuss how to feel your feelings and move through them without reacting in a way you later regret.
