This episode of the Problem Solved Podcast takes a special look at the world of high stakes decisions amid emergency and features Kristie Wrigglsworth, the executive director of Maui-based Pacific Whale Foundation, dedicated to protecting the ocean through science and advocacy and inspiring environmental stewardship. Wrigglesworth shares with our listeners a look back at one year ago this week when the tragic Maui fires became the largest fire-related loss of human life in a century in the United States.
What were the critical decisions that needed to be made in those difficult moments to safeguard her employees and her organization? And what can leaders running local, national, or global organizations learn about preparing for emergencies beyond those that they encounter delivering work related to their mission?
At a time when disaster seems to strike ever more often –whether natural or man-made– these leadership lessons offer insight into the plans and policies we all can put in place now to be better prepared for an emergency.
