Hi everyone! It’s another nighttime episode here on Procrastiknitting. Spooky!
This week we discuss the NY Sheep and Wool Festival (aka Rhinebeck). We mention @needle_beetle’s coach bus. Elyssa might go but she also wants to attend the Big E this year and one woman can only do so much.
Lydia cast on a Folk People Vest and she’s loving it so far. Here’s a great MDK article with some intarsia tips.
Need someone to detangle your yarn? There’s a subreddit for that!
Lydia is wearing her Coloured Crosses. It’s one of her favorite sweaters ever.
Elyssa mentions this great post from @TheIronSnail about gansey sweaters.
Elyssa is still working on her New Norma and tries it on for us (a few stitches pop off the needles but we’re totally not worried about it!).
Lydia shows off the weird stuff she bought at Art Scraps (pompom trim, googly eyes!).
Elyssa has made it to the midpoint of her Sophie Hood!
We take a moment to acknowledge the viral reel Elyssa made about The Garment. What a wild ride that was.
Elyssa might abandon her plan to knit a ‘Lil ‘Lac sweater (but she probably won’t) and Lydia hopes to knit a Puppy Sweater someday.

Episode 18! Hi! Welcome!
We start off this episode with a very special shout out and then Elyssa tells us about what’s happening in her mouth.
Elyssa has been very busy knitting her New Norma and it is stunning. She ran out of yarn and sped over to Cleo’s for more. She’s also been wearing her Cardi du Coeur and her Pressed Flowers Kerchief.
Lydia finished knitting her Scrappy Checkers Sweater! Everyone please clap. She’s super excited to start the Folk People Vest next. We also mention the Jane Vest (also by Megan Faith Makes).
Lydia is wearing her Port Jacket and she loves it! She’s having a tough time deciding what to knit for herself next. Elyssa suggests the Ava Jacket and it’s a serious contender. Or maybe the Petra Jacket? We also mention the Pelica and the Jilli Jacket.
Elyssa is having the best time color planning for her ‘Lil ‘Lac. She might use Cascade 220 because they have allll the colors.
Then we talk about finding the perfect brown yarn for Lydia’s next project for a bit before we descend into madness.

Hi friends and Happy Equinox! Welcome to another episode of Procrastiknitting.
As the heat of summer fades away we’ve been feeling our brains turn back on and the creative ideas are flowing.
Elyssa has been admiring My Favorite Things Knitwear and recently bought a few of her patterns. After plenty of swatching she cast on the New Norma and it’s looking great so far. She’s using DROPS Air held with Brushed Alpaca.
Elyssa tried on her Airy Blouse in progress. She’s knitting it with Woolerton Estates Cousin Benny.
Lydia is wearing her Boyne Sweater. She knit it in Wool & the Gang Crazy Sexy Wool that she dyed last summer using Bengala dye.
Elyssa has been getting back into ice dyeing. Check out more of her dye work on Instagram.
Elyssa is also dreaming of knitting a ‘Lil ‘Lac Sweater or maybe a Wave Sweater. She’s been using the Entrelac Scarf pattern as an intro to the technique.
Lydia tells Elyssa about StevenBe.
Lydia is so close to finishing her Scrappy Checkers. Sooo close!!
Elyssa mentions the IG account @penelopes_fiberarts. Penelope is a prolific knitter and has great style! Note: After we recorded we noticed that Penelope uses they/them pronouns. Sincere apologies for our error.
Thanks so much for listening! xox

Welcome to episode 16 of Procrastiknitting! An episode in which we repeatedly celebrate recording our 15th episode… because we are supremely confused. Whoops!
Elyssa really enjoyed this Instagram post by Marusique Stories.
Lydia reminisces about buying yarn from Downtown Yarns during the height of the pandemic.
Elyssa refers to another IG post we both really liked.
Elyssa has been hanging out at BKB working on Gumnut Hats.
Lydia was absolutely thrilled to find a Troll doll with real wool hair at an antique store and then we go off on an Ostheimer tangent for the ages. Sorry! But also, you’re welcome.
Elyssa chatted with Fia of Schmookie Knits and got her Mini Bunny (aka Rainbowhead) back on track.
Elyssa is also working on her Sophie Hood again.
Lydia is still slowly working on her Scrappy Checkers. She loves it but steered Elyssa away from it as a pattern for herself due to lack of short row shaping for the yoke. Here’s some really illuminating short row info from Tin Can Knits. Lydia also brought out her Azor sweater to help explain this concept.
Elyssa saw Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma and it really blew her mind AND inspired her to knit.

Hey everyone!
Summer is winding down and we are handling it all with grace and charm (here’s a link to Elyssa’s dead plant and here’s the song that made her cry in the car).
Elyssa is wearing her Mix Tape Tee! It’s so pretty. She made a tiny mistake on it while she was at the Prospect Park Knitting Club meetup.
Have you seen The Garment yet? Absolute decadence.
Elyssa got to see a gorgeous Slipstravaganza in real life. She also got to see a picture of a cat sweater and you can look at it too in this Substack essay!
We chat about the NY Sheep & Wool Festival (aka Rhinebeck!).
Lydia is still working on the Scrappy Checkers. It’s going great but it's taking a while.
Elyssa swatched again (wow!). She used Noro Kureyon and Drops Air. Elyssa also finished and blocked her Pressed Flowers Kerchief.
PSA: If you're thinking about knitting Christmas gifts you should start making them now. Elyssa already made an Oslo Hat to gift to a lucky someone. Her go-to gift knit is the Chunky Twist Headband.
Elyssa got more of the very special Manos del Uruguay "Ushuaia". She may use it to make an Ozetta pullover. But which one?
Elyssa also signed up to receive some very special Snail Mail from Anna Husemann.

It's got knitting! It's got etcetera!
Lydia is getting ready to go to the Minnesota State Fair. She’s also gonna see Weird Al. Whoa.
Elyssa attempts a little French and we reminisce about a childhood commercial for those Muzzy tapes.
Elyssa surprised us all and knit a swatch! She used Qing Teddy and Drops Air. The swatch might be for a Scrappy Checkers or possibly some kind of vest.
Elyssa has more of the Teddy yarn she’s saving to make a Parquet Vest.
We talk colorwork knitting for a bit and Lydia tries to explain the concept of Color Dominance.
Elyssa considers the Gerhard Sweater by Kolibri by Johanna. She also likes the Hilma.
Will Lydia ever finish her Pressed Flowers Kerchief? Who knows!
Elyssa shows off her Schmookie Knits Mini Bunny. It is so silly.
The Mix Tape Tee is almost done!
Elyssa and Lydia discover a shared interest in banjo music. Have you ever heard Banjo Bonanza? It rules.

Hi guys! We have been knitting some stuff and we can’t wait to show ya.
Elyssa shows off her Re:designed Project bag and it’s stunning, as always. It’s currently filled with Linen Quill yarn that she’s using to knit a gorgeous Mix Tape Tee.
We talk about decreases for a minute. Just remember: Your BFF is always right! And she (usually?) comes first.
Anyway, we discuss Mix Tape construction and Elyssa gives a shoutout to The Yarn Randomizer on YouTube for all the knowledge she shares, specifically a video about picking up stitches.
Lydia has cast on for a kid size Scrappy Checkers Sweater and has been knitting on it like a fiend. She’s making the 6-8 year size in various yarns. She also posted on Instagram about why you might want to knit your sweater neckbands sooner than you think. Lydia pops the wip over her head and we discuss the beautiful but ill-fated Holger sweater our friend Malisa made.
Elyssa wants to start a Scrappy Checkers too so she went to Knit & Pearls and got to dig through some ancient orphan yarn treasures. What an absolute dream.
Elyssa has a pair of adorable slippers her Aunt made long ago. Here’s a free pattern for something very similar!
Lydia went to this knitting/craft meetup at her local library. Someone was working on a Bikini Slipover and it was very pretty and intriguing.
Cleo’s Yarn Shop is mentioned and Elyssa is debating purchasing more of a very special and rare (?) Manos del Uruguay Alegria Grande in Ushuaia.

We’re back, baby!
Please excuse any background sounds, there’s major construction happening next door to Lydia and her other recording studio (her kids’ closet) is just too hot.
Elyssa has been staying at her parents’ house and she’s been unearthing many treasures. So far she’s found the beads from her old dreadlocks and the skirt she made from neck ties in the early aughts. Here’s a tutorial in case you need one too.
Lydia finished a Berry Baby Hat for her niece. She used Malabrigo Worsted in the colors Rose Damask and Lettuce.
Elyssa gives us a Mix Tape Tee update… it’s gorgeous! She’s also really loving working with Linen Quill. It’s mostly going great but Elyssa did get a little help from Laura at Knit & Pearls. Thanks, Laura!
Kaffe Fassett is briefly mentioned (with appropriate praise and adoration).
There is a little Pressed Flowers chat.
We chat about our excitement for the new Schmookie Knits pattern (a snail!!).
Lydia shows off her recent visible mending. She used some fabric hexagons from her English paper piecing project.
We do a little Malabrigo deep dive based on a listener question; that sponsorship deal is gonna come in any day now!
Lydia admires the Helix Pullover by Jessie Maed.
Here’s Quailman, just in case you don’t know who that is yet. Oh, and here’s Katamari.
Thanks for listening! We love you guys!

Welcome to episode 11! Grab your emotional support knitting and pull up a chair.
Lydia is wearing her Kinikin Cardigan by Good Night, Day. She knit it in Loopy Mango Mohair So Soft in the color Tiramisu. The fabric is like nothing you’ve ever felt before.
Elyssa puts on her finished Cardi du Coeur! It is gorgeous! Everyone please clap.
After going back and forth between a couple different blanket patterns for her Purl Soho Linen Quill Minis, Elyssa has taken a different direction entirely- the Mix Tape Tee by Wool & Pine and it’s going great so far.
Lydia has cast on a Berry Baby Hat for her niece. She’s using Malabrigo Worsted (duh!) in Damask Rose. Lydia picked up some Malabrigo Nube roving in the colorway Pocion. Lydia has also been spinning some Merino-Silk from Miss Babs (discontinued, apparently) in the color Hoarfrost.
Elyssa teaches us a little about why people hoard and references this article.
Elyssa finished her Pressed Flowers Kerchief. She’s working on an I-cord tie for it. She also got to visit Madison Wool, a yarn shop in CT. She spent some time knitting and chatting with the owner and got inspired to knit the Flutter Buttshorts by Jessie Maed. She even bought some yarn for them!
We are both geeking out over the work of Anna Husemann, her new Beaded Treasure Purse pattern is stunning.
We’re thinking about knitting the same sweater for our kids. Scrappy Checkers might be the one. We both have some Knit Picks Wool of the Andes we might use. Elyssa probably won’t swatch and you can't make her! @me_and_simone made a post recently that really illustrated this concept of swatching as a thief of creative joy.
Thanks for joining us this week! See ya next monday!

Hi friends! Welcome to Episode 10! Woo!
In this episode Elyssa reveals that she is a major Phish fan and has been attending multiple shows at MSG this week. Here’s the song that started it all for her.
Lydia has been attending water aerobics classes. What a dream!
Elyssa had to pause her Pressed Flowers Kerchief (free pattern!) when she realized she made an error. Ransom Canyon may be partly to blame.
Lydia is also making a Pressed Flowers (inspired by Elyssa, obviously) and after a bit of a learning curve she is zooming right along.
Lydia’s Marshland sweater in on a time out. The colors are just not vibing for her. Time to rip. @Lou.Dangit is briefly mentioned. We both love watching their creative process.
Elyssa is considering the Antipodes sweater. But there’s also the Sophie Hood, her mohair top, the Pressed Flowers, etc… How many wips is too many (is there a limit?).
Elyssa is doing some pest prevention for her stash- jumbo Ziplocks at the ready.
Lydia picked up an older project; a mohair hat made of 2 strands of mohair held together. She doesn’t really like this project either! Go figure. She’s using the Big Cuff Hat pattern as a guide.
Have you seen the work of Nancy Marchant? It is stunning! Go look at it now!
Lydia found a Weir Crafts Kit at a thrift store and it was an absolute thrill.
Elyssa’s story of Phish concert life totally astounds Lydia and then Lydia tells a story that makes them both want to puke. Speaking of gross stuff; remember this creepy tale? Also, Lydia recommends Scary Stories to Tell on the Pod for a spooky laugh.
A bit more random rambling and that's it!
Thanks so much for ten funky episodes! It's been a wild ride so far and we're excited to keep going.
